The Council for British Archaeology will be hosting their annual Festival of Archaeology between 12-27 July this year, and MBArchaeology have a series of activities planned as part of their iDig initiative.
Community Archaeology workshops
A one-day taster session exploring Community Archaeology. Come along and find out about the practice of archaeology, handle artefacts and hear about local projects. A longer course is planned for the Autumn. £10pp for three-hour workshop.

Experimental archaeology workshop (Southwell, Notts)
A two-day experimental archaeology workshop exploring ancient technology, with information sessions and practical activities. Topics covered include flint knapping, early art forms such as painting with natural materials, the development of pottery and the introduction of metalworking. £30pp for the two-day workshop.
We will also be undertaking a community excavation in Chesterfield between 21-25 July, with daily site visits for the general public to come and see what we have discovered. More information will be posted shortly.
